China Shipping Regional Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Official Opening - 1st July

July 2, 2005 - China Shipping Group Company is abbreviated as “China Shipping”,it is one of the biggest shipping conglomerate diversified in various fields and operates across different regions and countries. China Shipping, taking shipping as it’s core business, specialized in running the fleet of tankers, break bulk, cruises, container and special cargo with a total of 400 ships and 11.5 million tonnes of deadweight. China Shipping Container Line Co., Ltd had been listed in the main board of Hongkong Stock Exchange in the year of 2004,became one of the fast growing container shipping company in the world. Within a short period of 7 years, the carrying capacity of container fleet was able to overgrow to 300 thousands TEUS from a very small scale, ranking the top 8th in the world shipping industry in terms of capacity now. By the end of the year, the container capacity will reach 350 thousand TEUS with a fleet of 136 ships.

In line with the fast growing of the fleet, the container cargo canvassing net works had also been developed in a rapid way, 167 offices had been built up covering the main cargo producing areas in 76 countries and regions. The net works in South East Asia scattered in 9 countries, using Port Kelang as its transshipment hub. The transshipment volume through Port Kelang in 2004 recorded 300 thousands TEUS, the forecast of this year is expected to surpass 350 thousands TEUS.  

China Shipping shifted it’s container transshipment hub from Singapore to Port Kelang in the year of 2000,this is a significant change which benefit our both sides. We have been working together with our Malaysian partners over the past four years, we are happy with the service so far, we are confident that we are always supported by the Malaysian Government.  

In order to meet the demand of our daily increasing shipping activities and new services calling Malaysia, to upgrade our feeder service, to enhance it’s function in market research and coordination , we have decided to move our operational headquarter from Singapore to Malaysia. The removal of the regional operational headquarters will further strengthen our ties, as well as benefit the mutual trade, cooperation and friendship between our two countries.
